Experienced Leadership

CRC Engineering, P.C. was founded by engineers with a combined experience of over 40 years in the central utility industry.  Each partner brings a wealth of experience to the firm.

Christopher Tso, P.E.
Mr. Tso draws upon his considerable experience with central utility system design, analysis, optimization and master planning to lead the energy services efforts at CRC Engineering.  He specializes in chilled water system design and has experience with large projects; he has served as the project manager / lead mechanical engineer for the $200 million World Trade Center Central Chiller Plant project.  His experience in systems planning, analysis and optimization allows him to provide chilled water system designs with a focus on the overall system efficiency and future system requirements.

Christopher Nystrom, P.E.
Mr. Nystrom is responsible for project management and design of heating, cooling, power and MEP projects.  He leads the field services efforts at CRC Engineering which include field engineering, field inspections, estimating, project and construction management, start-up and commissioning, and field troubleshooting.  He has extensive field experience from many years operating waste-to-energy facilities along with his hands-on training and engineering degree from Maritime College.  This combination of theory and practical experience enables him to bridge the gaps between design, construction and operation.

Robert Bury, P.E.
Mr. Bury is responsible for leading the design and engineering efforts at CRC Engineering.  He is responsible for mechanical design, analysis and project management of power and cogeneration plants, central heating and cooling plants, and utility distribution systems.  He has managed multi-million dollar site utility upgrade projects involving high temperature hot water (HTHW), high pressure steam, chilled water as well as cogeneration systems. In addition, he has extensive experience in pipe stress analysis, hydraulic analysis, heat & mass balance calculations, and central utility plant P&IDs.  He also provides services beyond the design phase and provides construction phase services including shop drawing review, responding to contractor RFIs and field observations.

Ryan Modruson, P.E.
Mr. Modruson leads the Commissioning efforts at CRC Engineering and has extensive experience in the commissioning of healthcare, residential, commercial, governmental, education and cultural buildings and facilities.  Mr. Modruson has managed and commissioned over 500 projects totaling well over 6 million square feet.  He has provided services including the following: Commissioning  (LEED, Non-LEED, New, Retro, and Re-Cx), Air and Water Testing & Balancing, Air Quality Testing, Equipment Performance Testing, Energy Auditing, Plant Operations/Facilities Management, Project Management, Blower Door Testing, HVAC Design, Steam Trap Surveys.  In addition, Mr. Modruson has provided design review, submittal review, installation checks, pre-functional and functional testing, performance testing, report creation and review, operation & maintenance manual review and creation, critical path and procedure development, scheduling, development of Cx and IAQ plans and specifications, energy calculations and payback, sequence of operation testing, and much more.
